Alex my man let me first say sorry for the loss of Eddie and all the heartache it has caused you. I know it hurts like hell and it always will. I lost my sister in 22 and theres not a day that goes by that I dont miss her. Believe me when Eddie passed it took a piece of my heart. Been a fan since the first album came out in 1978. When i bought that album it blew me away just as it did countless others. Saw you live 4 times and I had some of my best times at those shows. There never will be another Mighty Van Halen. Thank you for the great Music, Great times, Memories that won't be forgotten. Just know you are one of the greatest drummers that ever rocked the stage. I wish you the best in life and will miss you and the band but at least I have the music and my memories. Take care and may God bless you.

What a Legacy and way to go out on top. Sure he could have made a little money. The magic doesn’t last forever. To me there’s nothing more pitiful than old guys trying to be rock stars (kiss for example)

Cool vid! Alex Van Halen was always high on my list of favourite drummers.

For those that didn't notice, Donnie Vie with Alex Kane is half the Enuff Z'Nuff 1987 lineup. Kane was originally in the band from fall '86 to spring '88. He was forced out by the band's management who brought in Frigo to give the band a more 80's sound. The '87 demo's (on YT) with Kane are excellent and I actually prefer a lot of the versions with Kane on guitar, who has a more smooth, melodic style.

It’s a cool video about a wonderful time in the past. Some of the dialogue in this video is confusing. Two guys saying Frank playing in all leather in the mid afternoon blazing Texas heat, then the guy says Frank played at 1:00 am. Guy says “Neil Peart is a machine.” Awkward pause. What? Neil plays in Rush not Mahogany Rush. Confusing. Maybe their memories are just faded from time.

The sad thing is people don’t seem to care. A lot of them are just there to be part of ‘an event’ and sing along with every song. I’m glad my main concert going years were the seventies and eighties.

Any guitarist worth their salt knows NEVER to play a guitar out of tune.

Born Again definitely needs a remix. The speakers in the studio were blown out during mixing and it turned out sounding really shrill and weird. I have a personal love of the record because of how weird and creepy it sounds (Disturbing The Priest, Zero the Hero) Also, Headless Cross and The Eternal Idol are highly underrated.

The whole death metal thing is definitely a acquired taste. I love death metal and i love the old school stuff like sabbath and dio. We can all be one big happy metal family.

Some people are hoarders who feel uncomfortable getting rid of anything, and others are the opposite- for me it feels great to throw something away that I don't need. Many want to downsize and declutter as they get older.

TED did kick ass that day he sweated like a faucet. The sweat was pouring off his elbow as he was playing.I was about 30 feet away from him and then he passed out and they came and dragged him off stage . He came back out later with Aerosmith and did a song with them. But after the firework show all the people left . And I do mean all the people there were about 300 people left on the field when Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush came out. they really kicked ass . Frank was running around the stage jamming and the lights were shinning off his guitar like lasers he must have had a chrome pick guard on his guitar because the reflection was super great looking. He jammed until about 230 am or 3am. Super great concert I think VAN HALEN was great too everyone stood up to hear this NEW band with their new sound remember it was 1978!!!! Heart was really good also!!

So first off Dean Baldwin, a Guess Who homer. He doesn’t agree with the current lineup of LRB with no original members but he is ok with the Guess Who with one original(who is part time at best) member. What happens when Peterson is no longer around? Do these guys keep the brand and keep running with it? He tries to make the distinction that we hold classic rock bands to a different standard. That they are frozen in time and some fans think they shouldn’t make new music and evolve. I guess the question is what is evolving? Evolving to me is when Tommy Shaw joined Styx, Joe Walsh joined The Eagles or Johnathan Cain joined Journey. This is different. I think he is missing the bigger picture. New music from classic rock bands is becoming less and less. The artists are either dying or they are just getting to old to put out anything new. But never fear other musicians are standing at the ready to join the classic rock band because they want to carry on their legacy. Right? Nope, it is just a hired gun looking for the next gig. If they are lucky enough they get to write a few songs and stretch it out for a few years. The problem being most classic rock bands are turning into brand bands. So the new music (legacy) Dean speaks of is being written not by the original band member, it is being written by the hired gun. They are using the brand name platform to promote their songs they have written that quite frankly might not see the light of day anywhere else. Then they go out and identify as that brand name and tour under that brand name and play the hits that they had nothing to do with. Money is money, right? At that point they are a tribute band that identifies as as a brand name. Myself personally as a musician I couldn’t do that. So when is it time for classic rock bands / brand bands to call it a day? In Deans eye as long as they put out new music never. To me that’s when the integrity and legacy of the band will eventually be tarnished. I commented on his Facebook page and if you don’t agree with his narrative he will ignore you. If you do you are his best friend. He hides behind the narrative that the music will die and be silenced if what BC is doing is allowed. Malarkey. This current lineup can still tour under the name The Guess Who and play the new material that they have put out because Peterson (the drummer) owns the band name. But since BC owns the song rights to the big hits they can’t play them because he put a halt to it. So they choose to cancel shows rather than just play their new music (which Dean Baldwin says is awesome and will be silenced) because they know hardly anyone will buy tickets. Their choice, not BC. By the way the video of the current lineup included in this post doesn’t even have Peterson drumming. It is essentially all hired musicians and they are identifying as the Guess Who. Like I said money is money right? Out of a 17 song playlist they play 5 of their new songs, the rest are covers of past hits. So basically the tour survived on the past hits. If it didn’t they would still be touring. Dean thinks eventually the setlist will include more of their new stuff rather than the hits. Good luck with that. So an open question to Dean Baldwin: your ok with this?

Musicians always play this game... Claim they're selling something super meaningful, but it's actually something they used for one tour or something, and they just don't want it. Pretty sure he has more than a couple sets.
